The stories of his origins always amused Edward. Some said he was abandoned as a child and raised by a pack of wolves, other say he was once a noble prince turned renegade. The truth, well the truth was not as interesting, so he allowed the stories to spread. What people knew for sure was that he was a genius businessman, skilled pilot and ruthless pirate.
Seeing the value in the stones, he tried to become a honest business man trying to get in on the monopoly held by the Orlandians. He was denied. His failure brought about one of his most lucrative ventures, he signed up with a small band of free traders. His skill, intelligence, and ruthlessness quickly helped him climb ranks. The captain of his airship noted his talents, and had him in line to be the successor of his ship.
The little ship had been very successful in its raids, too successful, a division of sky knights were sent and the small ship was no match. The captain surrendered himself over to the knights, as long as they spared the ship and his small crew. The knights agreed but, they removed most of the weaponry and all of the illegal modifications.
Edward now Captain, was going to carve a name of greatness for himself.
That was a year ago, his actions so far have struck fear into the corrupt and hope into the hardworking. He worked hard not for the poor, not for the desperate, and he did not steal from the rich, he stole from the corrupt.
